Our little secrets that we’d like to pass on to you — so you can celebrate the ordinary — remembering that it’s okay to be dull

1.   Help a turtle cross the road.

6.   Convert your colour photos to black-and-white.

7.   Buy a glass-sided toaster.  Watch toast toast.

8.   Saunter somewhere.

9.   Read expired insurance policies.

10.  Paint a wall. Watch the paint dry.

11.  Visit an airport. Go to the baggage area. Watch the luggage carrousels.

13.  Take a drive on a Motorway. Stop at each Rest Area.

14.  Make a video of the Rest Areas you visit.

15.  Become an easy-listening music critic.

16.  Take a bucket and a piece of wood. Fill the bucket with water. Put the piece of wood in the bucket. Watch the wood warp.

17.  Invite a friend to drop over to watch the wood warp. Make a bet with him whether the wood will warp concave or convex.

18.  Save string. Make it into a ball. Watch the ball grow.

19.  Go to a department store. Ride the escalators.

20.  Go to a department store. Ride the elevators.

21.  Take a friend with you to the department store. Get into separate elevators. Have a race.

22.  Visit Washington DC.

23.  Find Hidden Driveways. Inform the owners that you have found their driveways.

24.  When visiting Washington DC, see as many monuments as you can. Take pictures of them.

25.  When visiting Washington DC, drive out to a dull person’s favourite airport, Dulles. Watch the luggage carousels.

26.  Travel as much by air as you can. Because you like airline food.

27.  Travel as much by air as much as you can. Keep notes whether the luggage carousels go clockwise or counterclockwise. Which to you like the best?

28.  Collect coat hangers from the hotels you visit.

29.  Watch TV test patterns.

30.  Watch the Weather Channel. Then phone around the country to see whether it is really happening.

31.  On medical forms, if asked to list allergies, indicate that you are allergic to excitement.

32.  Watch the American TV show “60 Minutes”. Time it.

33.  Go to London. Watch the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace.

34.  Learn how to queue.

35.  Avoid success. That way, you’ll never be a has-been.
