Events to Avoid

Cow Milked While Flying in an Airplane

February 18: Anniversary of the day in 1930 when Elm Farm Ollie because the first cow to fly in an airplane. During the flight, which was attended by reporters, she was milked and the milk was sealed in paper containers and parachuted over St. Louis. We don't celebrate this. Cows are supposed to be content, much like dull men. To make a cow go through this — a spectacle — was not right.

Carnival

February 23-24: Festivities, feats, foolishness, and gaiety. Definitely not for dull men.

Fasching

February 23-24: This is only Carnival in another name, the name used in Germany and Austria. "Fashing" means "Feast of Fools." Dull men are not fools.

Mardi Gras

February 24: New Orleans' version of Carnival and Fasching.
