Bingo Birthday Month |
Bingo was invented in December 1929 by Edwin S. Lowe. Bingo has grown into a $ five billion dollar a year fund raiser for charities. That's good. And we like to play it. But what we like most is the word "bingo." When something turns out right, we sometimes like to say "bingo". We'd much rather say bingo — it's more fitting to our character — than saying "terrific", "fantastic", or "awesome".

Bathtub Day |
December 5. Nowadays, too many of us rely on showers. But gone are the days of soaking in a long, hot bath. Luxuriating in warmth and comfort.
No need for Jacuzzis, whirlpools. In gyms. Think of all the germs. Instead, simply stay at home. Take a bath.

Clarence Birdseye Birth Anniversary |
December 9, 1925, Clarence Birdseye was born. Clarence invented a way of deep-freezing foods.
We like frozen foods. Deep-freezing takes out most of the taste.
We like to microwave them. We enjoy looking through the microwave's glass door —watch the microwavable packet rotating, slowly.

International Language Week |
December 15 — 21. To disseminate information about mankind?s quest for an international language to solve the communication problem of humans, and to supply information abut the international language Esperanto.
But what's wrong with English— Isn't English what most of the world uses nowadays to communicate?
One of our sister groups, The Royal Society of Dull Men (based in London), believes that England should charge a royalty to the rest of the world for the use of English. The English say that the rest of the world, particularly business and tourism, couldn't function were it not for the use of English.

Underdog Day |
December 17. To salute, before the year's end, all of the underdogs and unsung heroes — the Number Twos who contribute so much to the Number Ones that we always read about. Sherlock` Holmes's Dr. Watson and Robinson Cruse's Friday are examples. |

Metric Conversion Act Anniversary |
On December 23, 1975, one of the most useless acts of Congress was passed. This was Public Law 94-168, the Metric Conversion Act of 1975. It declared that the metric system of units will be America?s basic system of measurement and established the U.S. Metric Board. The board is responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of voluntary conversion to the metric system.
We have been trying for a long time now to get a member of the U.S. Metrics Board to be on the National Council of Dull Men.
