Leaf Raking Month
Autumn is arriving. Leaves are starting to fall. That's wonderful. We enjoy watching leaves fall. Sometimes we time them falling. Sometimes we take videos of them falling. Sometimes we just watch. And then, when they cover the ground, we enjoy raking
Unless of course you are in the Southern Hemisphere. Bill Walker from Brisbane writes to us pointing out the Hemisphere Adjustment they make in Australia . . . there they watch trees budding
We like autumn.

Falling leaves . . . too exciting? We recognize that watching falling leaves might be too exciting for some of our members. We found a screensaver of falling leaves. Click here. Watching this screensaver is tamer than the real thing . . . you can avoid the excitement of going outdoors . . . avoid the thrill of picking up a rake . . . avoid the workout from raking.

Anorak of the Month
We are pleased to announce a monthly section for "Anorak of the Month." We will present a link the spot in a catalog where our favorite anorak for the month is pictured. The only drawback to this, as we see it, is that it might turn out to be too exciting for a Dull Man if he buys each month's anorak. "Restrain yourself," is the only advice we have to offer.
Here's October's choice . . . click on the link below to see a picture of a great anorak . . . suitable for Fall . . . as it is hunting season in many places, we've chosen an anorak . . . in a color that will not excite . . . the color is called "cement" . . . can it get any duller than that . . . click here

October 1 -2. A favorite dull activity for us in the fall is going out to an apple orchard to watch apples fall. And for apple lovers, there more we can tell you about. Each year about 75,000 people attend the Kentucky Apple Festival where there is an apple blossom beauty pageant, an apple auction, country music show, arts and crafts, flea market, antique car show, Corvette show, Apple Bowl, Terrapin Trot, amusement rides, and food booths (we assume serving apples, apple cider, and apple pie). For info, contact Kentucky Apple Festival, Paintsville Kentucky (606) 789-4355 . . . or click here

Adding Machine Patented
On October 11 1887 a patent was granted to Dorr Eugene Felt for the Comptometer, which was ?the first adding machine known to be absolutely accurate at all time.? Which is good?we see little use for an adding machine that is only sort of accurate, or one that is only accurate some of the time.

International Fired-Up Month
A month focusing on enthusiasm and joy, where people learn what gets them fired up and incorporate that into their lives. Seminars, workshops, parties, services, community events.
